The sudden launch of Google Map (Street View) in Hong Kong makes me crazy totally. I feel lost after viewing and playing that function for few days. As the power of a international company with money, Google have it setting (a car with 5 special designed cameras set on the top of the car) for doing the street view shooting. The car makes them much easier to get travel to all the place which they can reach in Hong Kong. Nearly all the public road is recorded. The work they done is totally cannot be compared if I just doing one road only. I feel sad and lost in the following weeks. I started to think more about my work times and times.
But the show must go on. I must still go on for my project. I changed some ideas and direction
of my work.
I turn back for doing a book mainly as it is still a main different with the Google Map. Printed form can be owned and handle on the hand (which I always talking at the start of planning my work). Google Map is a powerful tool appeared on the screen, but you cannot showed in actual form and placing on your hand (if you have a smart phone with Google Map functions, okay, you can view it through your gadget, fine...). But it is still a different enjoyment when you viewing street on a book rather than on the screen. Personally, the Google Map (Street View) is something like the scenes of
a computer game. My friend showed me that it looks much more like if you view it on the iPhone with full screen.
For the web part my work, it will only be done if time is enough. It is because the power of Google Map. I can never do a better web than it. Also, the time is not enough for me to do such a lot of things like the other programming parts on the web. So, it decided to turn the focusing point of my work to the printed parts. I would like to create a real, physical book in the limited time (At that moment, it is around a month to the submission) . There is at least a readable, great book appeared and can be showed what the time I spent for this project through the book making process. |
